Square Invoices fees, next to a capped bank transfer
Square Invoices is free to use and charges 3.3% + 30¢ when a customer pays by card — 0.4% more than Stripe's card rate — and 1% with a $1 minimum when they pay by bank transfer. Square caps the bank fee at $10 on its paid Invoices Plus plan. On a $5,000 bank-paid invoice that is $50 on the free plan, $10 on Plus, and $6.50 through your own Stripe account.

Is Square's $10 cap better than Stripe's?
Close, on Invoices Plus: $10 a transfer against Stripe's $5 plus $1.50 verification. On Square's free plan there is no cap, and that is the plan most people send invoices from.
What about card payments?
Square's free plan charges 3.3% + 30¢ on an invoice paid by card; Stripe's rate is 2.9% + 30¢. On a $1,500 card payment that is $49.80 against $43.80.
Do I need Square hardware or a Square account?
Not with Business. Customers pay on a hosted Stripe page from the link in their invoice, by card or bank transfer, and the money settles into your own Stripe account.
