Delete your account.
We make this as direct as possible. Here's how to remove your account and the data tied to it — from inside the app, or from here if you've already uninstalled.
From inside the ScanThisText app
The fastest path. Two taps, two confirmations.
- Open ScanThisText on your phone.
- Tap Settings (the gear in the tab bar).
- Scroll to the Danger zone at the bottom of the page.
- Tap Delete account and confirm twice.
If you have an active Premium subscription, the app cancels it automatically before deletion — you won't be charged again.
Already uninstalled the app?
No problem — we'll handle deletion from our side.
Email support@scanthistext.com with the subject Delete my data. Include any of the following so we can find your account:
- The email address tied to your subscription, if you had Premium
- Your Play Store order ID, if you have it
- Approximate first-use date
We confirm receipt within 24 hours and complete deletion within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 17.
What gets deleted
- Scan history — every photo you uploaded and the extracted text
- Translations and saved results
- Profile and preferences (theme, language, settings)
- Subscription entitlements (your active subscription is cancelled first)
- API access keys, if you created any
- Crash reports and analytics events tied to your account ID
What we keep — and why
For legal and tax compliance, we retain a narrow subset:
- Subscription billing records — payment timestamps, amounts, and plan tier. Required by tax authorities and Stripe/Google Play. Names and other personally identifying fields are stripped during purge.
- Aggregate anonymous metrics that cannot be linked back to you (total scan count buckets, country-level distribution).
- Security and abuse logs are retained for 90 days then permanently purged.
Nothing in this list contains your photos, your extracted text, or any data that could identify you personally.
Timeline
Day 0 — immediate
Your account is deactivated. You can't sign back in. Any active subscription is cancelled with no further charges.
Day 1 – 30 — grace period
Your data is held in case you change your mind. Email support@scanthistext.com during this window to restore the account.
Day 30 — permanent
Hard purge runs. All listed data is removed from production databases and backups. This step is irreversible.
