FreePDF · pdf.scanthistext.com

A free PDF editor that never uploads your file.

Create, edit, sign, and merge PDFs entirely inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted anywhere — there is no server holding your document. Free, with zero ads, on web and mobile.

No ads · No sign-up · No watermark · No page limits

Your file never leaves your device.

Most free PDF tools ask you to upload a signed contract, a medical form, or a tax document to a server you know nothing about — then serve you ads while you wait. FreePDF is built on pdf-lib and does all of its work in the browser tab you already have open.

  • Nothing to leak. We can't lose a file we never received.
  • Nothing to delete later. There is no “files removed after 1 hour” promise to trust, because no copy was ever made.
  • Safe for sensitive documents. Contracts, IDs, medical paperwork, financials — the kind of PDF you'd never drag onto a random website.

Frequently asked

Questions before you open a file?

Is it really free?

Yes — free with zero ads, for personal, school, freelance, or business use. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires, no watermark on the output, and no page or file-count limit.

Do my files get uploaded to a server?

No. FreePDF is built on pdf-lib and runs entirely in your browser. The file is read, edited, and saved on your own device — it is never transmitted to us or anyone else. There is no server copy to leak or to delete later.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email address, and no verification step. Open the page and start working.

Can I sign a PDF with it?

Yes. The Edit tool includes a signature pad — draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad, or fingertip and place it on the page. Because everything runs locally, the signed document never leaves your device.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in any mobile browser. The editor is touch-friendly and the signature pad is built for a fingertip. Finished files save via download or your phone's native share sheet. A dedicated Android app is coming to Google Play by the end of 2026.

Which languages and scripts are supported?

FreePDF embeds Noto Sans, so accented Latin characters, Cyrillic, and Greek all render correctly in text you add. CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean), emoji, and Arabic are not supported yet.

How is this different from ScanThisText?

They solve adjacent problems. ScanThisText uses OCR to pull copy-pasteable text out of an image or a scan. FreePDF works on the PDF itself — creating one, editing or signing it, or merging several into one.

Nothing to install. Nothing to sign up for.

And nothing to lose — literally, since the file never goes anywhere. An Android app follows on Google Play by the end of 2026.
