How it works
Three steps. None of them is typing.
Step 01
Upload your HEIC
Drop a HEIC file up to 20 MB, or paste from your clipboard. Multiple HEIC files can be queued on the Pro tier.
Step 02
We pull out the text
Our OCR engine reads HEIC files natively — no format conversion needed. HEIC files are decoded server-side, so you don't need to convert on your phone first.
Step 03
Copy, download, or translate
Get the text in seconds. Download as TXT, copy to clipboard, or translate into 100+ languages with one click.
Frequently asked
Questions before you upload?
What's the largest HEIC I can upload?
20 MB per file on every tier. For batches of larger HEIC files, the Pro and Business tiers support bulk uploads of up to 100 files at once.
Do I need to convert HEIC to another format first?
No. HEIC is supported natively — drop the file as-is. Skipping conversion preserves quality and saves time.
Does it work on HEIC screenshots?
Yes. Screenshots saved as HEIC from any device work fine. Paste from clipboard is also supported.
How accurate is the OCR?
Reliable on clean printed text and on photos shot in normal lighting. Handwriting and low-contrast scans are harder and land lower. The cleaner the source image, the cleaner the output.
What happens to my files after I scan them?
Files are sent over TLS and stored encrypted with your scan history. Free-tier history is kept 30 days; paid plans keep it until you delete it, as long as you stay subscribed.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free tier processes up to 5 ScanThisText.com scans a day with no credit card. Paid plans unlock unlimited scans, AI extraction, and longer history.
Try it on your file. Free, no install.
No card required. 100+ languages. Reliable on clean printed text.
